There are several methods of cutting logs, including:
1. Plain sawn / Flat Sawn
This method is done by splitting the wood in the same direction. This method will produce a circular cross-section. This pattern is used for both vertical and horizontal so that if we look at the wood grain we can see it. This method is very easy and can produce maximum final results. With this some business people do this method. The weakness in this method is that if the wooden block used has a high moisture content, it will tend to warp. This will affect the production or shape.
2. Riftsawn
This method has a very long process. The wooden beam is split in the middle into wooden planks. Then split in the direction of the radial beam or the center of the radius.
For this method produce wooden semiradial boards. Did you know that semiradial boards have a direction and position of shrinkage according to the direction of their circumference per year. While the year circle has a diagonal direction on the cross-sectional board.
The disadvantage of this method is that it creates a lot of sawn wood residue that can pollute the environment, and this method is expensive. However, the advantages of changing the shape of the shrinkage are very small. And the pattern on this method of sawn fiber will look beautiful. This method is usually used for the manufacture of high-end furniture. Because the wood from this method produces wood of strong quality and has maximum stability.
3. Quarter sawn
This method has better efficiency, where the splitting of the wood must be carried out into four parts towards the center of the radius of the wood. And each part can be split in the direction of the radius in the wood, so using this method can produce relatively low costs.
Usually people use this method to create wooden floors. This method reveals a beautiful kia wood fiber and is stronger against shrinkage and expansion.
