But we also need to know what hardwood and softwood are. Although it is often not noticed but this understanding is very important, do you know the difference between hardwood and softwood? let’s discuss.
Hardwood Type:Teak, Mahogany, Maple Wood
Softwood type:Fir Wood, Sengon Wood, Pine Wood
Difference between hardwood and softwood :
- Hardwood is mostly found in tropical climates such as Indonesia, while softwood is a woody plant that can live in sub-tropical climates or temperate climates, for example when we are in mountainous areas.
- Hardwoods are made up of and constructed from various proportions and have different cell types, so that their appearance varies greatly, while softwoods are made of significant cells, have a monotonous appearance and have no distinctive or unique characteristics or can be called a simple appearance. Hardwood has no softwood mounting.
- Hardwoods have a broad beam and varied diameters, but softwoods do not have much variation. usually the softwood radius is a wide tangential cell.
- Hardwood but does not have a neat radius line, but does not have a neat radius line, in accordance with harmony.
- Hardwood has short wood grain, the trackeid is less than 1 mm, but soft wood has longer wood grain. Softwood tracheids average from 3 mm to 4 mm. With this, people usually really like softwood for papermaking because it has a longer speed than softwood and is easy to process because of the software.
- Softwood has a large cell size with a good density level because softwood has no pores – so it has a softer texture than hardwood. However, hardwood has large pores so it is easy for air and the process is long if you want to absorb it. Its hygroscopic nature has the power to display and expel air.
- Softwood growth is faster than hardwood, such as stem and leaf growth. So it is easily developed than hard wood.
